Role & Duties – ENT Senior Resident / ENT Junior Consultant
Department: ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat & Head-Neck Surgery)
Hospital: MAYOM Hospital – Super Speciality ENT Services
Reporting To: Senior Consultant – ENT / Head of Department
Primary Objective
To provide comprehensive ENT care to both OPD and IPD patients, perform independent and assisted surgeries, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, support sub-specialty units (Vertigo Lab, Allergy Lab, Audiology Department), and actively participate in academic, outreach, and quality improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Outpatient (OPD) Management
- Attend daily ENT OPD clinics, independently managing patients under departmental protocols.
- Perform minor OPD procedures such as ear wax removal, foreign body removal (ear/nose/throat), nasal cautery, anterior nasal packing, incision & drainage, and ear dressings.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, plan further treatment, and counsel patients and attendants.
- Maintain EMR/HIS documentation for all OPD consultations as per hospital protocols.
2. Inpatient (IPD) Management
- Manage admitted patients — preoperative evaluation, postoperative care, monitoring complications, discharge planning, and counselling.
- Conduct daily inpatient rounds, updating patient records and treatment plans in coordination with the senior consultant.
- Handle emergency ENT cases (epistaxis, airway obstruction, trauma, acute infections) promptly and effectively.
3. Surgical Work
- Perform independent ENT surgeries (as per skill and privilege level granted by the hospital), including:
- Ear surgeries: Tympanoplasty, Mastoidectomy, Myringotomy & Grommet insertion.
- Nasal & Sinus surgeries: Septoplasty, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS), Turbinoplasty, Polypectomy.
- Throat surgeries: Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy, Microlaryngoscopic surgeries, vocal cord lesion excision.
- Salendoscopy procedures.

- Assist Senior Consultants in complex surgeries, including:
- Head & neck cancer surgeries.
- Advanced skull base surgeries.
- Cochlear implant surgeries.

- Ensure strict adherence to OT safety protocols, infection control, and NABH standards.
4. Diagnostic & Speciality Lab Responsibilities
- Manage and conduct procedures in Vertigo Lab — Vestibular function tests, interpretation, and patient counselling.
- Oversee Allergy Lab — Skin prick tests, allergen immunotherapy protocols.
- Collaborate with Audiology Department — Audiometry, tympanometry, hearing aid trial & fitting, cochlear implant rehabilitation.
5. Academic & Outreach Activities
- Participate in ENT camps, screening programs, and hospital outreach initiatives.
- Conduct patient education talks in community and OPD settings.
- Engage in departmental CME programs, journal clubs, case discussions, and skill enhancement workshops.
6. Administrative & Coordination Duties
- Coordinate with other departments (Radiology, Pathology, Oncology, Anesthesia, ICU) for patient care.
- Maintain patient treatment records, operative notes, discharge summaries, and statistical data for MIS.
- Assist in hospital accreditation compliance (NABH, JCI) related to ENT services.
7. Patient Care Standards
- Ensure patient safety and quality of care at all times.
- Provide empathetic and ethical medical advice.
- Address patient queries, grievances, and follow-ups effectively.
8. Continuous Learning & Professional Development
- Stay updated with the latest developments in ENT surgery and treatments.
- Attend national/international ENT conferences when possible.
Eligibility & Skills
- Qualification: MS/DNB/ENT with relevant experience.
- Skills Required: Endoscopic ENT surgery, microscopic ear surgery, allergy management, vertigo diagnostics, team coordination, patient counselling, documentation.
- Soft Skills: Communication, empathy, decision-making under pressure, adaptability to hospital protocols.

Pay: ₹50,261.81 - ₹107,819.21 per month
