The Course Coordinator is responsible for organizing, planning, and managing all elements of a course to ensure that it is delivered effectively and meets the academic standards of the institution. The coordinator works closely with faculty, students, and administrative staff to support the delivery of learning objectives and ensure a smooth and cohesive learning experience for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Course Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of courses, including scheduling lectures, tutorials, and assessments.
- Coordinate course syllabi, materials, and teaching resources in collaboration with instructors.
- Ensure that course content aligns with academic standards and learning objectives.
- Monitor and update course materials as needed to reflect current information and best practices.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as a liaison between students, instructors, and administrative staff, ensuring timely communication about course logistics, policies, and deadlines.
- Organize and manage student inquiries regarding course content, assessment details, or administrative issues.
- Coordinate the availability of faculty for student consultations and office hours.
- Course Planning and Development:
- Work with faculty and academic committees to develop and update curricula.
- Assist in the preparation of teaching materials, exams, and grading rubrics.
- Collaborate with faculty to assess course effectiveness and implement improvements.
- Assessment and Grading:
- Coordinate the administration of exams, quizzes, assignments, and other assessments.
- Ensure timely grading and feedback delivery to students.
- Manage the submission and processing of final grades, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines.
- Student Support:
- Provide academic and administrative support to students, addressing concerns and queries.
- Facilitate academic advising sessions, helping students understand course requirements and academic policies.
- Assist with onboarding and orientation for new students.
- Resource and Staff Management:
- Coordinate the allocation of teaching assistants, tutors, or adjunct instructors as needed.
- Arrange for the acquisition of textbooks, course readings, and other learning materials.
- Oversee classroom and teaching space bookings, ensuring facilities are equipped and ready.
- Technology and Systems Support:
- Manage the course’s online presence, including course websites, learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard), and other digital tools.
- Assist faculty and students with the use of technology for teaching and learning, such as virtual classrooms, online assessments, and digital submission platforms.
- Quality Assurance:
- Monitor student feedback and performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports on course progress, student satisfaction, and academic outcomes.
- Ensure that courses comply with institutional policies and accreditation standards.
