The Restaurant Cashier is responsible for managing transactions, ensuring accurate billing, and maintaining a friendly and efficient checkout process. They handle payments, maintain financial records, and provide excellent customer service to guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Transactions:
- Greet customers warmly and process payments for their orders.
- Handle cash, credit cards, and other payment methods accurately.
- Issue receipts and ensure correct billing for dine-in, takeout, or delivery orders.
- Financial Management:
- Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Record transactions accurately in the POS (Point of Sale) system.
- Report any discrepancies in cash or credit transactions promptly.
- Customer Service:
- Address customer inquiries related to billing or menu items.
- Resolve complaints or escalate them to the manager if necessary.
- Provide information about promotions, discounts, or special offers.
- Operational Support:
- Maintain a clean and organized cashier station.
- Assist with packaging takeout orders if needed.
- Coordinate with service staff for smooth operations during peak hours.
- Compliance & Security:
- Follow cash handling and anti-theft protocols.
- Ensure compliance with restaurant policies and financial procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience as a cashier, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Proficiency in using POS systems and handling transactions.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
