About the Role
This is an exciting time to join the Data & Insights team at The Economist Group. Under our Chief Data Officer we have created a centre of excellence spanning research, analytics and data science partnering with the whole group, including our core subscription business, our Economist Intelligence, Economist Impact and Executive Education and Events businesses. Our purpose is to better understand and affect the drivers of our business through data analytics and research, with a focus on our users, B2C customers and B2B clients. We are value-focused and outcome-driven: we help drive growth and agility at every level, whether through informing strategic alignment and decisions, providing quick feedback loops to operators or creating machine learning models to be integrated into our products and marketing communications.
As a Data Analyst, you’ll help bring our data to life and empower stakeholders with insights that drive strategic and operational decisions. You will work closely with our B2B teams initially, with opportunities to expand across the business. The focus is on facilitating the development of more robust datasets and enabling access to high-quality, actionable data via intuitive dashboards and scalable reporting solutions.
What you’ll do:
- Partner with business teams to understand their needs and translate them into data-driven deliverables
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports in Tableau, delivering insight through compelling visualization
- Proactively explore and understand our datasets, becoming a subject matter expert (SME)
- Identify and implement improvements in key reporting metrics and analytics capabilities
- Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Stay current with industry best practices and continuously develop your skills beyond core responsibilities
- Balance stakeholder expectations with your own data expertise to provide constructive challenge and strategic input
What You’ll Bring
- A degree or master's in a quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Business)
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets
- Proven ability to design, build and improve Tableau dashboards
- High levels of data literacy, critical thinking and attention to detail
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders
- A self-starter mindset with enthusiasm for learning and continuous improvement
Nice to Have :
- Experience working with financial data or finance teams
- Knowledge of subscription-based business models
- Familiarity with Agile project management frameworks
- Exposure to data architecture concepts
- Tableau certification and/or a published Tableau Public profile
