Job Description
Title: Azure FinOps Analyst
Primary Goal: Assess and optimize our monthly spend in Azure cloud, identify cost-saving opportunities, and
implement optimization strategies without degrading performance, security, or availability.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
1. Cloud Platform Expertise
o Minimum 3–5 years of Azure cost analysis or FinOps experience
o Deep knowledge of Azure billing models, pricing structures, resource tagging,
Reserved Instances (RIs), Savings Plans, and spot instances
o Familiarity with Cost Management + Billing, Azure Advisor, and Azure Resource
Graph
2. FinOps & Optimization Experience
o Proven track record reducing Azure cloud costs in enterprise-scale environments
(> $100K/month)
o Experience with rightsizing VMs, shutdown schedules, storage tiering, network
egress minimization, and unused resource cleanup
o Able to implement automated governance policies to enforce cost controls
3. Tooling & Reporting
o Proficiency with Azure-native tools: Cost Analysis, Advisor, Monitor, and Policy
o Experience using 3rd-party tools: custom Power BI dashboards
o Skilled in building monthly reporting dashboards and actionable cost savings
reports
4. Technical Background
o Strong understanding of Azure infrastructure (VMs, AKS, Storage, Networking,
App Services, SQL, etc.)
o Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and DevOps to explain costsaving
actions
5. Communication & Documentation
o Excellent spoken and written English
o Able to create clear documentation of findings, present recommendations to
executives, and follow through with engineering teams

o Immediate low-effort cost savings
o Longer-term opportunities (e.g., moving to RIs/Savings Plans, re-architecture)
• Monthly Optimization Reports with:
o Trend analysis vs previous months
o Actual savings realized
o Upcoming cost risks (e.g., spikes, untagged resources)
• Implementation Plan and support for:
o Automation of resource cleanup/shutdown
o Tagging enforcement and tracking
o Governance policy proposals
